Consultation has concluded

Background

Canterbury-Bankstown Council is proposing to grant a Licence to AusCycling to operate Dunc Gray Velodrome and its adjacent ancillary building, on 2 Carysfield St, Georges Hall 2198.

This public notice is being issued in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

The Dunc Gray Velodrome is classified as Community Land, and the proposed licence – allowing AusCycling to operate a recreational multi-purpose facility – aligns with the land’s core objectives, the Local Government Act 1993 and Council’s Generic Plan of Management.

Dunc Gray Velodrome is recognised by community and cycling associations as the elite cycling venue for Sydney and NSW.

AusCycling is Australia’s national governing body for cycling, representing all disciplines and participants at every stage of their riding journey. It is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to unite, connect and grow cycling in a sustainable, innovative and inclusive way.

AusCycling proposes to operate the venue as a multi-purpose facility, particularly by activating the inner field for use by other sporting groups. This approach aims to increase use of the venue, increase participation, broaden community access and encourage healthy, active lifestyles.
