Amendment to Canterbury Development Control Plan 2012

At the Ordinary Meeting on 24 July 2018, Canterbury-Bankstown Council endorsed the public exhibition of:

  1. A NEW Commercial Use of Footways Policy;
  2. The associated Commercial Use of Footways Guidelines; and
  3. An amendment to Canterbury Development Control Plan 2012.

This Policy and Guidelines aligns the management and licensing of outdoor dining, outdoor merchandise displays, and freestanding advertising signage on land under the care and control of Council across the whole Canterbury- Bankstown Local Government Area.

This Policy and Guidelines will replace the current Bankstown Commercial Use of Footways Policy (2006) and Part B10 of the Canterbury Development Control Plan (2012). The amendment to the DCP will delete Part B10 as well as any other references to Part B10 elsewhere in the DCP.

The Policy aims to develop vibrant, open street life and support local economic vitality whilst maintaining public safety and access.
