In today’s most recent news, Canterbury Bankstown has been declared the World’s Best City for Kids and their local mayor has announced a week-long holiday, encouraging local families to join in the celebrations.

This Sydney region won the prestigious award at last night’s annual ‘World for Kids’ event. Children and organisations around the world voted for Canterbury Bankstown, with many describing the city as a safe, welcoming, and friendly place for children to grow up in.

Eleven-year-old Aisha from Yagoona expressed her pride, saying, “Everyone respects each other, they say no to racism and discrimination and listens to what children have to say. We feel important, heard, understood.”

To celebrate the award, there'll be free events and festivities will be held across the city will be held in all five wards for one week.
