City of Canterbury Bankstown (Council) is seeking community feedback on the Draft Code of Meeting Practice (Code). The Code incorporates the mandatory provisions of the 2025 Model Code issued by Office of Local Government and is aligned to Council’s policy position.

Background

As required by the Local Government Act 1993 requirements (section 361), the draft Code will be open for feedback until 13 November 2025. All feedback will be reported to Council for consideration before the Code is adopted.

Council has reviewed the Policy and changes have been made. These are tracked in the Code of Meeting document available in the Document Library.

This public exhibition was endorsed at the Council meeting on Tuesday, 16 September 2025 (see Item 8.4, page 3).

What is the Code of Meeting Practice

The Code of Meeting Practice provides a set of meeting rules to ensure more accessible, orderly, effective and efficient meetings. It applies to all meetings of councils and committees of councils of which all the members are councillors.

The Code of Meeting Practice is made under section 360 of the Local Government Act 1993 and the Local Government (General) Regulation 2021.
