Parts of the reserve will remain accessible during construction. The playground area will be temporarily fenced off for safety, with works expected to take approximately three months. The playground will reopen to the community as soon as construction is completed.

The new location in the north-west section of the reserve offers better passive surveillance, improved sightlines and greater natural shade from existing mature trees. This creates a safer and more welcoming environment for families and carers.

The existing playground and associated infrastructure will be removed and the area will be reinstated as a grassed lawn, providing flexible open space for passive recreation.

The new playground will be upgraded from Level 3 to Level 2 and designed to cater for children aged 2–12, providing a wider range of play opportunities, including active and inclusive play elements.

Some small, unhealthy or unsafe trees will be removed based on a professional tree assessment. Overall tree canopy and shade within the park will not be significantly impacted.

This project supports Council’s Community Strategic Plan by enhancing local open spaces and providing safe, inclusive and accessible recreational facilities that promote health, wellbeing and social connection. The upgraded playground will encourage active play for children, support families and carers and contribute to a higher quality public realm within a residential neighbourhood. The project also aligns with Council’s objectives for sustainable and well-planned infrastructure by improving the long-term functionality of the reserve.
