Consultation has concluded

Background

Council is committed to providing the community with opportunities to recognise significant persons and events. Council recognises the importance that memorials serve as a statement of grief and love from the bereaved and that placing a tribute may assist with this grieving process. The Memorials Policy provides guidance for the establishment, maintenance, removal and relocation of memorial objects such as monuments and plaques, and the scattering of ashes on land under the care and control of Canterbury-Bankstown Council.

This policy

Council has updated its Memorials Policy. The Policy applies to land and roads under Council’s care and control, including roads maintained by Council under agreement with Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

This Policy does not apply to State controlled roads and excludes public art that is installed throughout the Local Government Area (LGA) as part of a town centre or public place improvement program. This Policy is aligned to the Safe and Strong destination of the CBCity 2036 Community Strategic Plan.

Proposed memorial tree fees

In accordance with Section 610F of the Local Government Act 1993, Council is providing public notice of the proposed fees:

Memorial Tree Administration Fee for initial assessment$106 (excl. GST)
