The Panania Library and Knowledge Centre project will deliver a modern, multi-purpose facility designed for the growing needs of our community. Located on the existing library site, the new state-of-the-art facility will become a centre piece of Panania, delivering important community infrastructure for current and future residents.

Council has commissioned award-winning architects, Lahznimmo, to create a concept design for the multi-purpose building and surrounding open space.

We’re excited to now share the concept design for this new facility, after considering feedback from the community in August and September 2024.

The Panania Library and Knowledge Centre project will replace the existing ageing buildings on the site with a modern new facility that will include:

  • A new library and knowledge centre with dedicated spaces for private study, lounging and a children’s area
  • A large multipurpose community area for hire with space for 70 people, with digital support and kitchenette facilities
  • Meeting rooms in the library for groups of up to 12 people
  • A new public plaza, landscaping and enhancements to the surrounding precinct’s green space
  • Covered outdoor areas with tables and seating
  • Public toilets
  • Retention of the existing car park

These facilities will take advantage of the site’s prominent location in the Panania Town Centre, creating improved pedestrian connections and a large north facing green space for the community to enjoy.

Let us know what you think of the concept design and how you’d like to utilise the new library space. Have your say by completing the online survey below, attending one of our pop-up sessions, or emailing us your feedback.

The upgraded Panania Library and Knowledge Centre is part of the Community Infrastructure Strategic Plan 2050. This plan was adopted at the 28 May 2024 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The Panania Library and Knowledge Centre is being delivered by CBCity. The project is funded by the NSW Government's Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program in association with Canterbury-Bankstown Council.
