Earlwood Tree Replacement Update

10 July 2024

Thank you for having your say on the replacement of the Hill Weeping Fig trees on Clarke Street and Earlwood Avenue.

You told us which replacement tree option you preferred, between Crepe Myrtles or an Australian native species, either Tuckeroo (Cupaniopsis anacardioides) or Ivory Curl Tree (Buckinghamia celsissima). The majority of respondents showed preference for a native species.

Thanks to this feedback, Council has selected the tree species Tuckeroo to replace the existing Hill Weeping Figs.

This project will now move into the tree planting phase as part of the High Pedestrian Activity Area (HPAA) works from July-September 2024.

Here is a summary of the project engagement:

  • 204 website visitors
  • 17 surveys completed
  • 11 survey responses stating a preference for a native species
  • 37 postcards and project notification flyers delivered to businesses on Clarke Street and Earlwood Avenue

How did we do?
