Consultation has concluded

As you will be aware, Council has been working on the replacement of the Lang Road pedestrian bridge over the Cooks River and upgrades to Ewen Park, Hurlstone Park for some time. Much of the earlier project consultation was completed by the former Canterbury City Council and we are now wishing to work with the community to improve and refine the upgrade of this important local community space.

Following a review of the initial bridge design earlier this year and, with the support of key community representatives the decision was made to investigate a new bridge design and consider the opportunities this new design could potentially deliver for the upgrade of the Park.

This has now been completed and we would now like to share with you the draft Improvement Plan for Ewen Park which will guide the replacement of the bridge and upgrades to the Park over the coming years. The draft improvement plan introduces:

  • A new design for the Lang Road bridge over the Cooks River;
  • A revised design for gathering and sharing open spaces in the Park with upgrades for active and passive play; and
  • A design concept and location for the proposed community meeting facility.
