This proposal
As the Road Authority, Council adheres to the NSW Address Policy and User Manual (APUM), the Roads Act 1993, the Roads Regulations 2018, Council's Naming Policy and Council's Memorials Policy. These documents outline the requirements for naming roads under the care and control of CBCity, in an appropriate and consistent manner.
The proposal for the naming of the seven new public roads encompasses a range of historically and environmentally significant references. Specifically, the suggested names draw upon the legacies of early settlers who played a role in the establishment and development of the area. Furthermore, the proposal honors the sacrifices and contributions of war servicemen and women, recognising their impact on the community and the nation.
It also acknowledges individuals who have made notable contributions to the area's cultural, social, or economic heritage, thereby preserving their memory within the local landscape.
In addition to these historical connections, the proposed names also incorporate elements of the region's natural environment, featuring the names of native flora and fauna that hold ecological significance and are characteristic of the local biodiversity. This dual approach aims to create street names that are both meaningful in their historical context and reflective of the area's unique natural identity. For more information, including on proposed names, please see the documents in the Document Library below.
CBCity is inviting members of the local community to have their say on the proposed names.
On June 16 2022, the NSW Land and Environment Court approved the building plans DA-1107/2019 and DA-4/2020. These plans were about changing the old Riverlands Golf Course into 180 pieces of land for houses.
MIRVAC, the project developer, communicated their intention to subsequently seek approval for the construction of 311 residential dwellings within the development area.
In compliance with the stipulations outlined within the approved Development Application (DA), MIRVAC submitted a formal request to Council. This request pertains to the naming of seven newly established public roads situated within their three-stage subdivision of the former Riverlands Golf Course. These internal roadways are integral to the development's infrastructure and are located adjacent to the existing public roads, specifically Prescot Parade and Raleigh Road. The naming of these roads is a procedural requirement to facilitate future address allocation, emergency services access, and overall navigation within the new residential precinct.
