Engagement summary and next steps

10 June 2025

Thanking you for having your say on the naming of new public roads at Riverlands Golf Course Development.

Here’s how we engaged with you on this project:

  • The Have Your Say website, including a feedback comment form for each name
  • Letters sent to 250 residents living in close proximity to the development
  • Emails sent to Council’s First Peoples, Environment and Arts & Culture Advisory Committees (during the consultation period)

What we heard

During the recent consultation period, we received a total of 12 submissions regarding the proposed road names.

A prominent theme in the submissions was the desire for First Nations recognition. Four contributions specifically raised this point. Prior to this engagement, Council contacted the New South Wales Aboriginal Land Council regarding the proposed names. Although First Nations names were included in the initial list, they were not approved by the Geographical Names Board (GNB) due to eligibility requirements under the Geographical Names Act 1996.

What we did

Adopted road names

Following the consultation, at the 27 May 2025 Ordinary Meeting, Council adopted six of the seven names for roads created as part of new developments and subdivisions. These names have been submitted to the GNB for official gazettal:

Riverlands Drive

Saloop Road

Luderick Avenue

Connell Way

Satters Way

Striders Avenue

Tench Crescent has not been adopted and other names are now being considered.

Next steps

We will conduct a new community engagement process that includes options for naming the remaining public road. Following this, the suggested name will be presented to Council for consideration and endorsement.
