Consultation has concluded

The Office of the NSW Small Business Commissioner (OSBC) invited councils to develop a state-wide position on outdoor dining. The objective of this initiative is to:

  • streamline the application process for outdoor dining;
  • focus on a consistent policy;
  • develop a user friendly guide for business; whilst
  • implementing a trial to test and validate the initiative across participating councils.

Canterbury Bankstown is one of six councils in NSW participating in this project, which was endorsed by Council at the 22 August 2017 Ordinary Meeting.

The outdoor pilot program will be hosted in Belfield Town Centre and is now proposed to expand the project area into Belmore.

At the Ordinary Meeting of 12 December 2017, Council endorsed public exhibition of the proposed waiving of fees for Outdoor Dining during the trial period of up to six months for businesses in Belmore Town Centre.

In accordance with Section 610E of the Local Government Act, Council is now publicly exhibiting the waiving of outdoor dining fees during the trial period for the Belmore Town Centre.

This exhibition period closes at the close of business 8 January 2018.

The Outdoor Dining Pilot Project Trial period ends on 30 June 2018.
