Global Community Engagement Day

23 January 2025

Did you know that this Tuesday (28 January) is Global Community Engagement Day?

This day recognises and promotes the importance of community engagement or public participation around the world.

Starting in 2018, the day was co-founded by two Australian-based leaders in the engagement field, Andrew Coulson and Becky Hirst. Their goal was to gain a better understanding of how community engagement works and how it can help communities to find their voice and shape their future.

It’s now an active event across 40 countries and this year the theme is, ‘Engaging Communities to rebuild trust’.

Community Engagement Day

We’d like to thank you for your previous contributions, and encourage you to continue to be active members of your community by giving feedback on Council’s future plans, projects and strategies. You can do this online through the Have Your Say website and at the face-to-face engagement events that we hold across our City.

Help us to spread the word about community engagement to your neighbours, friends and family that live in Canterbury-Bankstown and let them know how they can get involved.

Plus, if you’re in Bankstown on Tuesday 28 January, come and say hello to us. Our team will be at the BLaKC from 9am-12pm.

Happy Global Community Engagement Day!
