Thanks for having your say

Thank you for having your say on the concept designs for Greenacre Splash Park.

The public feedback period for this project was from 30 May to 21 June 2020 with promotion of the exhibition by online advertising, email outreach and a Zoom webinar presentation. We also door-knocked and consulted approximately 50 local residents and, comments and feedback were gained from meetings with Watson Women’s Group, Greenacre Public School and Council’s Universal Access and ATSI Committee Reference groups.

More than 2,800 people viewed the project materials online and we received 17 detailed submissions and 67 survey responses and comments.

More than 85% of survey respondents confirmed a level of support for the concept design and, we have revised the designs in response to feedback received. These changes include:

  • Parking and Traffic Management has been identified as a concern for residents. Council has reconfigured on street parking to increase capacity and increased the size of the existing car park to allow better traffic flow. Council is still in the process of working through further considerations to improve access to the park.
  • Funding for the Stage 2 dry play space has been identified in Council’s FY20/21 budget.
  • The existing skate park within the Roberts Park Concept master plan has been flagged for incorporation into forward works planning.
  • Additional picnic shelters have been identified as part of Stage 2 works. This is in addition to a large amount of planned formal and informal seating in the exhibited designs.
  • Sightlines across the park, especially at amenities, will be maintained and incorporated in the detailed design stage.
  • Additional sound and touch sensory play features will be incorporated in the detailed design stage.
  • Council will continue to liaise with local schools to ensure equitable access to the new park and existing fields.
