Thanks for having your say on Hurlstone Park Village Upgrades and Memorial Reserve Master Plan

31 July 2020

Thank you for having your say on Hurlstone Park Village Upgrades and Memorial Reserve Master Plan. Input received over the exhibition period (5-19 March 2020) is greatly appreciated and will ensure these projects deliver a great outcome for the community. Approximately 200 people attended pop-up sessions in Hurlstone Park, more than 1500 viewed the designs online, and 111 submissions were received. A focus group was also held with local residents regarding the master plan for Memorial Reserve.

As a result of this important feedback Council has listened and we’ve revised the designs in response to the information received.

Changes in response to community feedback

Memorial Reserve

  • There was a high level of positive feedback regarding community space design.
  • We have incorporated a loop path into community space and will undertake these works as part of the first stage construction.
  • You told us your preferences for each zone and the master plan has been finalised to reflect this: gardens, shade and seating in zone A; a native garden for zone B; and an outdoor gathering space for zone C. We will investigate funding and planning in future budgets to match these community priorities.

Village Upgrades

  • Due to significant feedback on the proposed access to the car park, the design has been changed to retain Floss Street car park entry and exit from Crinan Street.
  • We will discuss the revised designs with local businesses and seek further information.

Next steps

We’re looking forward to constructing these projects in the coming years to benefit the Hurlstone Park community.
