We’re excited to share our long-term vision and concept design for a new Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre (MPLAC) and adjoining Amour Park. We are seeking feedback from the community to help complete the concept design of the facility.
Background
Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre is located on Marco Avenue, Revesby, in Amour Park. The site is easily accessible, with proximity to supporting services, public transport, schools and open space. At this stage of the project, funding has not been allocated and a delivery date has not been set, but we are working to complete the concept design as the first stage. This design will help us plan the future needs of the precinct and also assist in Council seeking future funding from the NSW and Federal Governments.

Council's vision
Leisure and aquatic facilities contribute to our community’s quality of life and overall wellbeing, providing social, economic and environmental benefits. Like most areas in Sydney, our leisure and aquatic centres are outdated and nearing the end of their lifecycle. Many do not meet industry benchmarks or community expectations.
In line with our Leisure and Aquatic Strategic Plan 2019, it is our vision to renew and revitalise our leisure and aquatic services and facilities to enhance our community’s health and wellbeing and contribute to the unique facilities available in our City. Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre was originally built in the 1960’s and expanded on in 1982 and has since been identified as requiring redevelopment based on an audit of the existing centre. The project will provide a new facility to meet the future needs of the community.
The proposal
The new Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre concept design will provide improved and modern aquatic, health and leisure facilities for future generations. The new building will integrate with Amour Park and will be a place for community connection with a new cafe and spectator seating tiers.
The facility will include:
- Outdoor 50 metre pool with shaded spectator seating
- Outdoor water play area
- Outdoor landscape and picnic areas
- Indoor 25 metre pool
- Separate indoor warm water program pool
- Large multi-purpose room for group fitness classes and other community uses
- Allied health suites, cafe and seating areas
- New car park
At this stage of the project, Council is working to complete a concept design and we're seeking your feedback. Completing the concept design will provide us with the ability to explore funding and delivery opportunities for delivering the project to the community.
Long-term Amour Park plan
The new Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre will connect to the adjoining Amour Park. Due to the connection of these two areas, we are also proposing long-term upgrades to Amour Park to improve the whole precinct for the community. The combination of the new leisure and aquatic centre and park upgrades will strengthen Amour Park as a local active lifestyle destination for the community.
We are seeking feedback on the draft Amour Park Plan to prepare the design following feedback from the community.
Long-term upgrades proposed for Amour Park may include:
- Amphitheatre seating overlooking the existing sports oval with connections to the leisure and aquatic centre
- Entry off Iluka Street and Marco Avenue
- Circuit walking paths
- Open lawn fitness areas
- Landscape improvements
- A future skate park
- Location for a future sports clubhouse. There is no proposal to alter the existing clubhouse at this stage and the existing facility will remain for use subject to future consultation with its users.
You can view the current concept design below. Your feedback will help us prepare a final design for the precinct.

Next steps and timing
We are seeking community feedback and will use this to complete the concept design for the new facility. A timeline for delivery has not been set, as funding has not yet been secured. By creating a concept design, we will be able to explore funding and delivery opportunities for the project moving forward.
The proposal is a long-term vision for the facility and wider Amour Park precinct. The existing Max Parker Leisure & Aquatic Centre and Amour Park will remain open and continue to provide services to the community until funding is secured and we are able to progress the design to the construction stage.
It is important to note that this concept design is not final and may continue to be amended in the future following community feedback, type of funding secured and other external factors.
