Each year, the City of Canterbury Bankstown, in partnership with the NSW Government, the community and local business, hosts Ramadan Nights Lakemba.

Ramadan Nights is a month-long event to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. The event provides people an opportunity to break their fast in a vibrant, community environment. It also attracts new visitors to our City, which helps to boost the local economy for businesses and provides residents with a unique cultural experience.

The event includes food stalls featuring traditional cuisines from countries such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and India which are cooked by local food vendors.

In 2022, people from around the country flocked to Canterbury-Bankstown to experience the magic of Ramadan Nights, a unique cultural event. The event attracted over 1.2 million visitors and the month-long celebration of culture saw Lakemba’s Haldon Street transformed into a vibrant global food bazaar from dusk to dawn for thirty-one consecutive nights.

Ramadan Nights is a unique annual event for our City, the region, the State and the Country. In 2023, the event will take place between 21 March to end of Ramadan, from sunset-3am along Haldon Street in Lakemba.

You’re invited to have your say on the event by filling out the survey below. Ramadan Nights Lakemba takes place in the community for the community, and your feedback will help to develop and grow the future of this iconic event.
