About Ramadan

Ramadan is the most sacred month of the year in Islamic culture. The month of Ramadan is spent by people of Muslim faith fasting during the daylight hours from dawn to sunset. At the end of each day’s fast, Muslims gather for Iftar, the evening meal to break their fast.

Ramadan Nights Lakemba

Each year, the City of Canterbury Bankstown, in partnership with the NSW Government, sponsors, the community and local business, hosts Ramadan Nights Lakemba.

Ramadan Nights is a month-long event to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. The event provides people an opportunity to break their fast in a vibrant, community environment. It also attracts new visitors to our City, which helps to boost the local economy for businesses and provides visitors with a unique cultural experience.

It has also grown significantly over the last few years and is one of Sydney’s most popular and culturally diverse events. Canterbury-Bankstown Council is conducting a survey to help improve your experience at future Ramadan Nights events. If you have visited the event in 2023, you can provide your feedback by completing this 5-minute survey. This survey is open from Tuesday 21 March 2023 to Sunday 23 April 2023 and is available in four languages – Arabic, Urdu, Bengali and English.

Thank you to all those who have provided their feedback. Survey is now closed.
