Background

The Boulevarde is the main thoroughfare through the retail strip of Punchbowl and provides primary access to Punchbowl Station and the public carpark. The area has high pedestrian activity due to the retail strip and access to public transport.

This proposal

As part of Council’s 2023/24 Capital Works Program, we are proposing to replace the existing pedestrian refuge island with a raised pedestrian crossing which will give priority to pedestrians travelling throughout the area. The scope of works for this project will also include the construction of a new garden bed.

Council has applied for funding under Transport for NSW’s Active Transport program and is currently completing consultation to understand the community’s feedback to the proposal. The implementation of the crossing is subject to grant funding from Transport for NSW.

This project is in line with Council’s vision of a ‘moving and integrated’ City, whereby we are improving the movement around our City for all users whilst also being a ‘safe and strong’ City.
