Consultation has concluded

Background

Along Waterloo Road in the vicinity of Banksia Road and Wangee Road, Greenacre there have been five reported accidents resulting in injury occurring over the past five years.

This proposal

As part of Council’s 2023/24 Capital Works Program, we are proposing to raise the existing at-grade pedestrian crossing and concrete median island to restrict right turn movements at the intersection of Waterloo Road and Banksia Road along with new pedestrian fencing at the intersection of Waterloo Road and Wangee Road.

The scope of works for the project will also include increased lighting and signage displaying these traffic changes. This will create a safer environment for both vehicle and pedestrian movements.

Council has applied for funding under Transport for NSW’s Active Transport program and is currently completing consultation to understand the community’s feedback to the proposal. The implementation of the crossing will be subject to community feedback and funding availability.

This project is in line with Council’s vision of a ‘moving and integrated’ City, whereby we are improving the movement around our City for all users whilst also being a ‘safe and strong’ City.
