Consultation has concluded

Background

Council continues to work on improving safety for pedestrians and drivers across our wide local government area. However, with demands on all our services continuing to grow and limited funding available, prioritisation is provided to locations where speed data and official TfNSW injury/crash information can support expenditure of these funds. Council also works collaboratively with Federal and State Government departments to obtain possible grant funding through various road safety programs.

A grant submission for the 2024/2025 Federal Black Spot program is currently being considered by Council for Hector Street-Rodd Street and Hector Street-Jocelyn Street intersections.

This proposal

Recorded accident history in the last five years indicates four cross traffic related crashes at the Hector St and Rodd St intersection. To mitigate those crashes, Council is proposing a roundabout at the intersection with an extended median island to reinforce right turn ban into Jocelyn St. As part of this, the existing median island on Jocelyn St will also be upgraded to a standard pedestrian refuge island.

The proposal will require removal of total 6 parking spaces in Rodd Street and Jocelyn Street to allow for the installation of standard pedestrian refuge islands. Hector Street will gain 13 parking spaces.
