Background

People from multicultural backgrounds have the right to participating freely and equally in cultural and public life, enjoy their own culture and practise their own religion free from discrimination. However, they face unique challenges and barriers that prevent them from fully participating in and contributing to the social, economic and cultural life of Canterbury-Bankstown. The Cultural Diversity Plan will provide a framework to help address the challenges and barriers to community participation experienced by our multicultural community. With the framework, Council will work in collaboration with our community members and local service providers towards an equitable, inclusive and cohesive Canterbury-Bankstown for people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
