Footpath Fun mural is complete at Jubilee Reserve Lakemba. The mural draws inspiration from feedback received after community engagement was undertaken in 2021, and celebrates growing food and culture in Lakemba.

The Footpath Fun mural in the heart of Jubilee Reserve mural celebrates the joy of food, and growing community and culture in Lakemba. Maggie Beer the legendary cook, food author, producer and educator, also spent her early years growing up in Lakemba around gardens, surrounded by beautiful fresh food and community-oriented culture.

Growing culture and community

Growth is an artwork which nourishes the local community, visitors and migrants on Darug country. Food and the smell of home transports us all to a different place. Growth is a celebration of multiculturalism and international exchange.

The path perspective references the growth of biodiversity, locally and overseas. Imagery from the community has reimagined and visually translated directly onto the leaf segments.

We celebrate and share culture through sharing food, stories and knowledge for the next generation of seedlings we must nurture.
