Background

As part of our commitment to planning for quality open spaces and places, we’re seeking feedback on the future of the Greenacre Community Place precinct*. Located west of Waterloo Road in the heart of Greenacre, the precinct plays an important part in supporting the function of the Greenacre Town Centre and meeting the needs of our growing community.

An analysis, the ‘Greenacre Community Place Urban Design Study’, has been prepared to identify community needs and a framework has been developed to guide future opportunities at the site. The analysis has identified the potential for improved recreation and open spaces, as well as a future indoor recreation facility, which would complement the civic community uses addressed by the new Roberts Park Community Hub.

In the future, Council may undertake an expression of interest for community organisations to deliver the outcomes identified in the framework.

*The Greenacre Community Place precinct includes the site which formerly housed the Greenacre Leisure & Aquatic Centre. Council has been planning for the decommissioning and remediation of the former site. This work will occur as part of Council’s 2024/25 capital works program.
