Consultation has concluded

Background

Each year Council seeks to improve the safety on our roads by seeking funding from Federal and State Government programs. The projects target those road locations where crashes are occurring or areas with a high crash risk.

Along Tompson Road between Picnic Point Road and Victor Avenue, four reported accidents resulting in injury have occurred within the past five years. This location has therefore been included for consideration in Council’s funding application.

This proposal

Council has identified that Tompson Road would benefit from three speed humps being installed along with a raised safety platform at the intersection of Tompson Road and Victor Avenue to create a safer environment for traffic and pedestrian movements. The proposal also includes installing fencing on the nature strip next to the speed humps to discourage pedestrians from using the speed humps as a crossing.

This project is in line with Council’s vision of a ‘moving and integrated’ City, whereby we are improving the movement around our City for all users whilst also being a ‘safe and strong’ City.
