What you are looking forward to most about Greenacre Splash Park?

The upcoming Greenacre Splash Park features exciting play and recreation spaces supported by high-end amenities. We’d love to hear what you’re most excited for when the park opens!

Is it the quiet water play? Or, is it the green kick about area you’re most looking forward to? It could be the high-quality, inclusive design and adult change facilities that cater to all members of the community. Perhaps it’s sharing food and having birthday parties in the picnic area, or getting coffee at the kiosk? Are you excited to stop by after school, through summer when the water play is on, or in winter when the water is off, but the fun is on? Or, are you keen to be there year-round and see the lush landscape plantings change through the seasons.

What our local Greenacre schools have to say

As part of the community engagement process for the Greenacre Splash Park Council visited 5 schools and ran 5 interactive sessions over the course of two weeks. Between 31 May – 9 June, we visited the following schools and engaged with nearly 500 students from various cultural and religious backgrounds as well as abilities:

  • Al Noori Muslim School
  • Banksia Road Public School
  • Greenacre Public School
  • Holy Saviour Primary School
  • Punchbowl Boys High School

As part of the engagement sessions, we ran through the park design and had very productive and enthusiastic Q & A sessions that spanned from risk management, ecological conservation and design process. After students were invited to get out of their seats and embrace their wild side as they role played what Australia’s different indigenous animals would do on various pieces of play equipment.

This last activity tied into the spend your points activity where the community is empowered to pick names for shelters and zones of the park based on native Australian flora and fauna. The sessions served as a creative opportunity for the students to learn about the changes to their local park while also giving them a better understanding of the different roles people play in one of Council’s project and how they can affect their local area.

Al Noori

Banksia Road

"Banksia Road Public School is looking forward to the new Splash Park opening at Roberts Park. The children are really excited about the water activities and the 'Shaded Playspace' area. Our voice was heard during the design naming process and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our thoughts. We can't wait to plan our future 'Good as Gold' days there, where all students will be able to utilise the equipment and have fun!"

Greenacre Public

"The Greenacre Splash Park is a new space for our local community to utilise and enjoy at their own leisure."
- Melissa Proctor | Greenacre Public School Principal

Holy Saviour

"Needless to say, our students are still buzzing at the prospect of a splash park within walking distance of our school, ever since the visit by the team from Canterbury Bankstown Council. We are excited for not only our students at Holy Saviour School to be able to experience this accessible fun space, but for the greater community. The social, physical and mental health benefits of such a place, and so near to us cannot be underestimated. We look forward to the imminent opening at the end of the year. "
