Early engagement

Between Monday 19 September and Sunday 23 October 2022 Council sought early contributions and ideas from the community. See below for more information.

Background

In 2019, Council completed our Local Strategic Planning Statement Connective City 2036. This document set out a high-level land-use vision for Canterbury-Bankstown, including a centres approach to growth.

A centres approach to growth means that most of Council’s future jobs and housing growth will occur in existing centres with infrastructure and transport access. To ensure this growth is well planned, we are preparing place-based master plans. These master plans will help ensure that our centres are vibrant, prosperous and attractive places that the community can be proud of.

We have completed master plans for our City’s two largest centres, Bankstown and Campsie. Council is now planning for three of its local centres Lakemba, Belmore and Canterbury, and one of our small village centres, Belfield.

We recognise and respect Darug cultural heritage, beliefs and relationship with the land. We acknowledge the First Peoples’ continuing importance to our CBCity community.
