We’re planning a brand-new destination play space at Tasker Park. Offering a rich mix of experiences, the new place space will bring together a variety of equipment, landscaping and seating to create a high-quality space for all ages and abilities.

Guided by Council’s Playgrounds and Play Spaces Strategic Plan as well as feedback we’ve received from the community, a draft concept design has now been prepared.

Key features include:

  • Custom hero play towers: unique, custom-designed towers will serve as a central feature, offering multi-level climbing and adventure opportunities.
  • Nature and learning-based play: incorporating natural elements to encourage exploration and provide opportunities for educational and sensory play.
  • Dinky track: a dedicated circuit for bikes, scooters and trikes to encourage active play.
  • A variety of play experiences: a balance of active and quieter areas for different ages and energy levels.
  • Swings for all ages: a selection of swings with options for toddlers and older children.

You can view the draft concept design and have your say below until 31 October. Your feedback will help shape the final play space design.

Site location

The new play space will replace the existing play space on Wairoa Street and be built in a more suitable location on Phillips Ave as part of the wider precinct plan.
