We’re planning exciting upgrades in Tasker Park that will transform the area and support the new Canterbury Leisure and Aquatic Centre (due for completion in Spring 2026) to create a world-class recreational precinct.

Following community feedback in 2024 we’ve developed a high-level precinct plan designed to cater to the many ways our community uses this area.

The precinct plan includes additional trees and landscaping, and proposes several upgrades in Tasker Park, including:

  • Walking, cycling and connectivity upgrades, providing improved connections to Canterbury Town Centre with a new bridge across the Cooks River, new footpath and a separate cycleway along Phillips Avenue and through the precinct and upgrades to the Broughton Street railway underpass.
  • New destination play space in a new location, with a range of active and passive play experiences for all ages.
  • Recreation upgrades, including a new full basketball court, exercise equipment and re-purposing of the former play space to a landscaped greenspace.

You can view our high-level plans for the precinct below and have your say until 31 October. Your feedback will help us shape final designs and ensure these upgrades meet the needs of our community.
